There is a lot more advertising happenning for the Tampa Bay region and the Gulf region in general but skip over the state on Route 60 and you will find a genuine ocean with waves and water that is not like a bathtub for 5 or 6 months. The places that come to mind for most folks when they think of the best beaches are Clearwater, Siesta key, Naples, Panama City, and Daytona beach. Now most of those are on the Gulf of Mexico and the other is on the east side of the state north of Orlando. The Treasure Coast is quieter and less packed than the Gulf side of the state.
The Treasure Coast is the area south of the Space Coast, by Melbourne, but north of the crowds of West Palm Beach and South Florida. We are placed exactly between those two areas. Right between the Fort Pierce inlet and Sebastian inlet lies some of the best beaches in Florida and they are uncrowded with water that can be tropical blue. The water here can be a beautiful blue at times. The Sebastian Inlet seems to be a changing point for the water being clearer. Even 100 miles north you don't get that tropical water color which can happen here.
Almost anything you want can be found in the shopping district. It is full of a large assortment of shops. With homemade candy, high-end jewelry, great clothing stores, a quality linens shop, a excellent kitchen shop and many more you are sure to unearth what you want and probably something you weren't even searching for. There is also the Miracle Mile which is just over the bridge on the mainland just off of Route 60. If you want an indoor mall all you have to do is go west on Route 60 as you do so you will also pass many of the big box stores.
